We’re returning to work just as the Trump administration and the federal banking agencies are breaking new ground – taking on overly onerous banking regulation that is not necessary for the agencies to have imposed.

AABD is actively participating in various ways:

  • We have filed comment letters on agency proposals; participated in meetings with the agencies; and filed amicus briefs in cases where the agencies have overreached their authority to target bank directors and officers.
  • AABD has decided to continue its Task Force to recommend how laws, regulations, and guidelines/guidance that hinder the rights and obligations of bank directors to fully exercise their fiduciary duties owed to their banks can be amended or discarded.
  • We will be continuing our Calling All Bank Directors podcast, with 52 episodes already under our belt.
  • Our efforts to mobilize bank directors to support an apprenticeship program for their banks will continue. See www.WeAreBarc.org.
  • We are looking to create an advisory panel of bankers to formulate training and subject matter content for banks that decide to participate in an apprenticeship program.
  • We will continue to offer our six-hour core course and accreditation to bank directors.

More to come!
